How it works

What the report counts, and why it's a count

We send your ten questions to ChatGPT through DataForSEO, with your city written in, the way someone would ask it fresh: no account history, no earlier chat. Then we read every answer for your business name and your website.

The report opens with a count, like "Named in 4 of 9 ChatGPT answers on October 27, 2026". That's a count of answers, not a place in a list. ChatGPT doesn't keep companies in order: it writes each answer fresh, and the same question can name different companies tomorrow, or for someone else. So the count is what one day's answers said, and a check next month shows whether it's moving.

A question ChatGPT couldn't answer is left out of the count, and the report says so. Your business name, website and email never go to ChatGPT: only the questions, which name your kind of company and your city.

Why the big firms come up, and what helps

Ask ChatGPT for the best freight brokers in the US and it names the big firms, the ones every list and article mentions. National questions tend to go that way for every kind of company. Questions with your city in them are where a small company is most likely to be named.

Nobody can make ChatGPT name a company. What it draws on is public, though, and these help it find you and describe you correctly:

  • Your site says plainly what you do, for whom and where, in text a crawler can read. A site that only shows its words after scripts run can look empty to AI crawlers; the free website check tests for that.
  • A page for each service and each place you really serve, so a question about one has a page that answers it.
  • Your name, address, phone and services the same everywhere: your site, your Google Business Profile, the directories and your FMCSA record.
  • Other sites that mention you: associations, local news, customers, partners and reviews.

Is the AI visibility checker free?

Yes. You get one email with your report, from nic@s4l.io. There's no account to make, no mailing list and nothing to install.

Which AI does it check?

ChatGPT, asked through DataForSEO the way a new user would ask it, with no account history or earlier chat. Other assistants, and Google's AI answers, can answer the same question differently, so the report covers ChatGPT only and says so.

Why does the report say "named in 4 of 9" instead of a position?

Because there's no fixed order to come in. ChatGPT writes each answer fresh, and the same question can name different companies from one day to the next and from one person to the next. The honest measure is how many answers named you on the day we asked, and which companies came up instead. Check again in a month and compare.

I wasn't named on a question about a service I don't offer. Is that a problem?

No. Everyone in your kind of company gets the same ten questions, so a courier that doesn't carry medical or legal work, a drayage company that doesn't haul hazmat, a 3PL without FBA prep or a mover that doesn't do offices will see those come back not named. That isn't a gap to fix. The fixed set is what lets a check next month compare like with like.

Can a small company get named next to the big firms?

On national questions, not often: they tend to name the big firms. On questions with your city in them, a small company has a real chance, and what helps is public: a site that says what you do and where, the same details everywhere you're listed, and other sites that mention you. More on what helps. Nobody can promise ChatGPT will name you.

Does ChatGPT see my company name, website or email?

No. Only the questions go to ChatGPT, through DataForSEO, and they name your kind of company and your city, never you. We read the answers for your name and your website on our side. The privacy policy says what we keep and for how long.

How long does the report take?

Usually under an hour, often a minute. If it isn't in your inbox by then, look in spam for an email from nic@s4l.io.

Can I check again later?

Yes, and that's the best use of it. The questions stay the same, so a check in a few weeks shows whether the count is moving. The same check (business, website, kind of company and city) isn't sent twice within 24 hours.

What happens to my email address?

It's used to send the report you asked for. Nothing automatic follows it: no mailing list and no sequence. If you tick the box, Nicolas may write to you himself. We keep the check, with your business name, website, city and email, for 90 days, then delete it.
